Overview of Location and Area

Batu Layar is a remote reef point located on the south-facing coast of Central Java. Surrounded by jungle and farmland, it offers a clean right-hand break peeling off a rocky headland. There’s no real infrastructure, but you can park inland and hike, or access it by boat from nearby villages. The area has a few warungs and basic accommodations, but it’s mostly untouched.

About Batu Layar

This wave is a right-hand reef point that can get fun and mechanical on the right swell and tide. It doesn’t break often, but when a solid SW swell hits and the wind’s right, it peels down the reef in smooth, wrapping lines. Long walls with carveable sections, some steepening up on the inside. It’s not a slab and doesn’t often barrel, but it has a clean shape that’s super fun when you score it.

Expect quiet lineups, tropical water, and zero crowds — especially mid-week.

Best Conditions for Batu Layar

Needs a solid S to SW swell in the 3–8 ft range
