Overview of Location and Area
Loji is located just east of Pelabuhan Ratu, West Java — a sleepy stretch of coastline tucked below the jungle-clad cliffs between Cimaja and Sawarna. The area has an unspoiled, raw feel, with quiet fishing villages, coconut groves, and next to no surf infrastructure. You won’t find warungs on the beach here — just reef, rock, and a long left waiting to line up when a solid swell rolls in.
About Loji
Loji is a long, wrapping left-hand point break that fires when a solid south or southwest swell pulses into West Java. It breaks over a mix of rock shelf and sand, offering rippable shoulders and long rides up to 100 meters when it lines up. It’s not super punchy or barreling, but the length and shape of the wave make it a real treat for those who love drawing lines and getting in flow. It’s not a guaranteed score, but when it works, it delivers fun, uncrowded rides — and likely all to yourself.
Best Conditions for Loji
S–SW swell, 6–12 ft
Mid to high tide gives the wave more push and smooths out the entry
Easterly winds are offshore
Best during the dry season (May to October)
Getting in and out at Loji
Access is straightforward — paddle out from the inside of the point, timing sets carefully. The bottom is a mix of reef and boulders, so be alert during lower tides. Entry is safest on a pushing tide, and while it’s not a gnarly setup, solo surfing here isn’t advised due to how remote and quiet it is.
Getting to Loji
From Jakarta, drive roughly 6 hours south to Pelabuhan Ratu, then head 20–30 minutes east toward Loji. You’ll pass through a few fishing villages before reaching the point. There’s no surf infrastructure, so bring all your gear, water, and snacks. Loji is best tackled as a day mission from Pelabuhan Ratu or Cimaja.
Hazards to Look Out For at Loji
Rocky reef and boulders at entry and takeoff zones
Shifty currents on big swell days
No support services or medical access nearby
Inconsistent — don’t go without swell on the charts
