Overview of Location and Area

Cement Factory sits on the reef ledge in front of the massive cement plant at the western end of Lhoknga Beach. The factory is hard to miss — it towers over the bay, and the wave breaks just inside the outermost reef finger. It’s exposed, heavy, and rarely surfed unless the conditions line up just right.

About Cement Factory

This is a short, powerful right-hander that breaks over a shallow ledge, often with a steep drop straight into a draining barrel section. It’s way heavier than A-Frame or nearby beachies. The takeoff is late, and the inside section can pinch or shut down depending on swell angle. It needs size and clean conditions, but when it’s working, it’s one of the heaviest waves on mainland Aceh.

Experienced surfers only — locals avoid it on sketchy tides for good reason.

Best Conditions for Cement Factory

Swell: SW–SSW, 4–10 ft+, long period.
Tide: Mid to high — low tide exposes too much reef.
Wind: Light E or NE, often early morning in dry season.
Season: May to September, though early season April pulses can fire.

Getting in and out at Cement Factory

Paddle out from the corner of the beach near the factory fence line. There’s a keyhole, but it shifts with the tide. On higher tides it’s straightforward, but low tide access is sketchy and exposed. Inside can be dry — make sure you kick out early or ride it with commitment. Wear booties if you’re unfamiliar with the reef.

Getting to Cement Factory

Fly into Banda Aceh, then drive or scooter 30 minutes west to Lhoknga. The wave is visible from the road that skirts the cement plant. Most surfers stay in Lhoknga village and walk down to surf. Don’t leave gear on the beach unattended — it’s remote and unpatrolled.

This is conservative Aceh — be respectful around the factory and locals. No shirtless walking, no drinking, keep a low profile.
