Overview of Location and Area

Blangujung Rights is tucked into the southern tip of Pulau Breueh, part of the Pulo Aceh island group, about 15–20 km northwest of Banda Aceh. It’s remote — no roads, no signs, just reef, jungle, and wide-open exposure to Southern Ocean energy. It faces directly into south swells and throws heavy on the right angle.

About Blangujung Rights

This is a high-speed right-hand reef break, wrapping into a deep channel after a steep, sometimes hollow takeoff. Think of it as a shorter version of Rags Right with less perfection but more raw power. The outside section can barrel, then back off into a fast wall, with the inside shutting down over shallow coral. Works best on a good SW groundswell with a bit of west, giving it more face and line.

It’s not long, but it’s powerful and rarely surfed.

Best Conditions for Blangujung

Needs a solid SW–SSW swell, 4–8 ft+, ideally with a 15s+ period to wrap into the reef clean. Mid tide pushing high gives the best balance between shape and safety. Best wind is easterly or light NE. Dry season (May–September) is your best window, especially on early morning glass before the trades pick up.

Getting in and out at Blangujung

Boat-only access — most surfers leave from Ulee Lheue port in Banda Aceh or from surf base camps in Lhoknga. Jump off in the channel and paddle to the boil. No beach landings here. If you get caught inside, it’s a long paddle to reset. The reef is sharp and exposed, especially on the inside.

Getting to Pulau Breueh

Fly into Banda Aceh, then charter a fishing boat or local skiff to Pulau Breueh — about 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on swell and boat speed. There are no surf camps, no medical support, and barely any facilities. Bring water, food, a full med kit, and surf everything like it could snap.
