Overview of Location and Area

Little Bingin sits opposite Scar Reef across the channel—about a 600 meter paddle or a short boat hop away. Known as an A‑frame reef break, it’s a fine option for days when Scar Reef is either too critical or you’re just looking for something a little more cruisey. Nestled in West Sumbawa’s surf corridor, you’ll find it alongside other heavy hitters, yet with far less consequence.

About Little Bingin

This break offers both lefts and rights, peeling over reef in mid‑size groundswells. It’s not a wild barrel factory, instead you’ll get playful walls and short-lived tubes that suit both technical refinements and cruisy highlines. On smaller swells it can provide a clean, mellow session, and on bigger days, it still stays friendly enough to manage when other nearby peaks push you into panic mode.

Best Conditions for Little Bingin

Swell: Works best with west to southwest groundswell, in the 3–6 ft range.
Wind: East, southeast, and northeast winds all groom the wave nicely thanks to its protected bay setting.
Tide: Mid to high tide gives cleaner shape and safer entry. Low tide can expose deeper reef making it sketchier.
Season: Peak window lines up with Scar Reef too mostly during the dry season, from April through October.

Getting In and Out at Little Bingin

Access is a paddle across the channel from Scar, or optionally via boat from the beach. Reef booties are optional, but recommended if the tide dips and sections get tight.

Getting to Little Bingin

Most surfers come overland from Lombok via ferry, then drive south about 1.5-2hours to Scar reef. Alternatively you can fly to the domestic airport Sultan Muhammad Kaharuddin III Airport (SWQ) from there taxi to Scar reef is around 3hours+.

Hazards to Look Out For at Little Bingin

Reef: Still reef sharp but plenty deep on high tide.
Logistics: Remote enough that quick fixes aren’t at hand. Bring backups.
