About Hyatt Reef

Hyatt reef breaks almost a kilometre off-shore, on the south side of the channel, and is actually more in front of the Fairmont Sanur hotel, than the Hyatt Hotel.

Hyatt reef can be broken into 2 sections. The outside is a lot more exposed and offers a more unpredictable wave than the inside section, good ones can come through and offer big open, peaky barrels, but a lot will tend to close out across the reef randomly. The outside section can be surfed at all tides, but beware of the shallow reef at low, and strong currents as the tide sucks in and out. Pick your waves wisely.

The inside section is a lot more lined up, and can offer a great lined up performance wave, complete with barrel sections. It can peel for 80-100m, into the well-defined channel.

When the swell is smaller, and the tide is high, Hyatt reef offers a great option for beginners to hone their skills on the reef.

Best Conditions for Hyatt Reef

Hyatt Reef breaks from waist high to 2 x over head, in swells from the S – SW. It will break on all tides and is offshore in winds from the NW – W.
