Best Conditions for Greenbush

Greenbush works best with a SW to W swell direction and only during high tide to provide essential depth over the reef. Winds from the NE to E are optimal for keeping the wave clean and its barrel sections wide open. A solid swell of 5-12 ft+ is required for Greenbush to light up, making it a wave that truly comes alive during peak Mentawai surf season.

Getting in and out at Greenbush

Access to Greenbush is by boat, which anchors just off the reef. At high tide, paddling out to the lineup is relatively straightforward, but care must be taken to avoid the shallow reef, especially as the tide begins to drop. Timing your session with the tide is critical, as the reef becomes dangerously shallow during mid and low tides.
