Found further up the reef from Kuta Reef, Airport Lefts can be a little less crowded at times, and has a quality wave. Get there by taking one of the local boats found at the corner of Jalan Wana Segara, next to the Holiday Inn. Kuta is a tourist mecca and has a huge array of accommodation, shopping and nightlife all at competitive prices. It is one of the busier parts of Indonesia, but is one of the favoured destinations for tourists and expats alike.

About Airport Lefts

Airport lefts is not as long, or as hollow as Kuta Reef, but can offer up waves that can run for 60-80m. It typically has 2 peaks you can take off on which helps to spread out the crowd. It draws in a bit more swell than Kuta Reef, so a better option on the smaller days.

Best Conditions for Airport Lefts

Airport Lefts is best surfed on mid-high tide, at head high to 1.5 over head. Any bigger than that and Airport Lefts can tend to closeout. It will break in swells from the South to the Southwest

Getting in and out at Airport Lefts

Access is by usually by taking a local boat from the beach and simply jumping of the side! Be sure to discuss with you boat driver coming back to be sure that he either waits for you to finish surfing, or comes back at a predetermined time.

for those on a budget or looking for a lot of extra exercise you can make the paddle across to the reef but it is not recommended.

Getting to Airport Lefts

You can catch a boat from the beach at Jalan Wana Segara, in front of Restaurant Pantai. The boat price is negotiable but expect to pay from Rp100k + for a return trip.

Hazards to look out for at Airport Lefts

Bring you manners to this spot, as the crowd can get a bit heated. Respect the locals who share their local wave with tourists every day, and they will respect you back.

The coral reef here is sharp, and can be shallow on low tide.
